Satpol PP Intensifies Nail-Trap Sweeping Operation in Jakarta

In an attempt to fight back against escalations in the spread of nail traps on the streets, the Jakarta Satpol PP held a ceremony for a nail-trap cleanup operation on the grounds of the Jakarta City Hall Building.

Jakarta Satpol PP Head, Arifin instructed his personnel in five areas of the city to intensify nail-trap sweeping as a form of Satpol PP's quick response in providing security and comfort services to Jakarta residents against disturbances to peace and public order.

"Nail traps greatly disrupt residents' activities. This is unsettling. Because of that, we made a team to clear the nail traps," he asserted.

It could also threaten the lives of motorists on the highway. Because of that, the perpetrators of these crimes must be stopped and punished according to applicable law.

He also instructed all personnel to take preventive steps in synergy with community elements in the area to prevent the spread of nails and the like on the streets.

"I also ask to strengthen cooperation with the community for optimal results," he added.

One of Satpol PP personnel, Abdul Majid admitted that personnel had cleared nail traps using magnetic sticks along Jalan Gatot Subroto, precisely from in front of the BPK Building to the Semanggi Bridge. As a result, they found many modified pieces of umbrella iron such as nails, sharp nuts, and long needles.

"We urge motorcyclists to be more vigilant. If you see a mine-spreader, immediately report it to us or the police," he asserted.

This step was appreciated by Hendra (29), an online motorcycle-taxi driver. He admitted that he had been a victim of a nail trap while crossing Jalan Palmerah, West Jakarta.

"Hopefully, Satpol PP will continue to carry out operations every day, thus we feel more comfortable and safe crossing the highway,' he hoped.
